POPULAR QUESTIONS

  • How safe is CNG as a transportation fuel?

From health and safety point of view, CNG is as good as, or better than petrol and other alternative fuels. The following properties make it a desirable fuel: Natural gas is lighter than air. In the event of a leak it will rise and disperse in the atmosphere and not form puddles (as in petrol) or spread (As in LPG). The ignition temperature of Natural Gas is much higher than petrol making it more difficult to ignite. A high gas concentration in the air is needed to ignite CNG, not easy to achieve even in event of leak. Natural gas will not burn when its concentration in air is below 5% of above 15%. Considerations with regard to health, in addition to reduction in air pollution, include the following: Natural gas is non toxic and cannot be accidentally ingested Natural gas is non-corrosive and non-carcinogenic.

  • Does CNG kit require servicing?

CNG kit is safe and simple. It gives years of trouble free operation. It doesn’t require frequent servicing. Just as for all other fuels, it is advised to have routine services. An authorized person should be consulted for service. As per Gas Cylinder Rules, 1981, the cylinder should undergo hydro-stretch testing every 5 years to check pressure tolerance. .

  •  Does CNG have any harmful effect on the engine?

Owing to CNG's distinct features, it does not contaminate or dilute crankcase oil, giving a new lease of life to the engine. The absence of any lead content in CNG helps avoid lead fouling of plugs, thereby enhancing plug life. One of the important benefits of CNG is that upon entering the engine in the form of a gas (and not as a spray or mist like other fuels), it doesn't disturb the presence of lubricating oil in the engine, and reduces chances of wear and tear.

  • Why should I convert my vehicle to run on an alternative fuel ?

There are various positive reasons to convert to an alternative fuel such as reduced fuel costs and saving money, reduction in environmentally damaging emissions, reduced maintenance costs and educed dependence on foreign oil.

  • Are CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) the fuel ?

CNG is a high-pressure gaseous fuel that always stays in gaseous form.

  • Are CNG safer than petrol?

Natural gas (CNG) has one of the safest records of any transportation fuel. There are two primary of the natural gas vehicle storage system. As well as Like petrol LPG is flammable, but has a much narrower range of flammability.

  • Will CNG hurt engine?

NO! In fact being on the light end of the hydrocarbon scale, there is almost no carbon in these fuels. Carbon is what turns your engine oil back! One big benefit of CNG is your oil will stay cleaner and requires less frequent changes, saving your time, money, oil and oil filters! CNG go into you engine as vapor, there is no “ raw “ fuel entering the cylinders which washes the lubricating oil off the cylinder walls so the piston rings stay better, lubricated resulting in may CNG fueled engines lasting up to THREE TIMES LONGER than the same engine on petrol !

  • How much maintenance will my CNG system require?

That’s one of the great features about ITUK kits, once installed and turned it, requires no maintenance other than particulate filter changes for years to come. At some point in the future (normally 3-5 years) you may want to change the diaphragms and gaskets to ensure “ like-new” performance and fuel economy.

  • Are CNG harmful to the environment?

NO ,CNG are some of the cleanest burning of all alternative flues. CNG vehicles produce 30-90% less carbon monoxide than gasoline (petrol) engines.
